My thoughts on Attributes of Digital Learners

  • The attributes mirror more of the same, and I like that some of his essay mirrors what we said in our multimedia presentation below. Jukes asks "Why bother learning in the class when I can Google it on the iPhone in 5 seconds?" We asked, more generally, "with instant access to information, is the 'Remember' pillar of Bloom's Taxonomy relevant anymore?" The questions are one in the same.
  • Jukes doesn't quite give enough hints for what we as educators need to do exactly. I think this may be in part because we're all still "lukewarm defenders" trying to figure out where we're going and what to do about it.

My IT and ICT Score Revisited - A Reflection of the Course in geneal

  • I scored pretty high on my tech skills, but still many of the things we used were new to me. When I stepped into the class in January, I had never uploaded a YouTube video myself. Now, I have three on my account.
  • Format Factory was my best find this year. Thanks Bruce.
  • I think my IT Score still rates pretty well, but my ICT Score is yet to be fully determined. I am driven to include more technology into my classroom. For my second practicum I have a projector and computer with dry erase boards. No smartboard! I am fine with that.
  • Am I a Digital Native or Immigrant? I think 80/20 split, after much reflection. I still don't have a Twitter account, but I can have it up, running, and exploited within an hour if I choose to. I just haven't found a point to it yet!
